Happy St. Patrick's Day

What a beautiful day is it today!  What a beautiful week it's been and it loos like next week is more of the same!  It is rare to have temps in the 70s for two week in March!  Looks like Spring has arrived!!!

Got a message from a friend who I haven't seen in 20 some years today...she was going to be in my area and wanted to meet for a bit.  We've keep in touch throughout the years, and it was so wonderful to see her today!  But an hour of chit chat in the food court at the mall wasn't enough time to catch up on everything!  Definitely will have to meet up with her again :-)

Bought some stuff to make a birthday gift for another friend.  Last year at this time I made her the wonderful spa basket....this year I don't want to do the same, so I am making her a soy candle and a bracelet.  We are meeting up next week and I'll take a bottle of wine with me....hoping that the weather stays like it is now so that we can enjoy that wine outside on her deck!

Spring Ahead!

Did you remember to turn your clocks forward an hour?  Even though we loose an hour of sleep, I love this time of the year....it means winter is behind us and the warm spring and summer are ever so much closer!

My new camera arrived last Monday.  I got a Nikon D3100.  This is my first SLR camera and I am so excited to get to know how to use it and start taking pictures!  I played around with it a bit this week, and got a couple of really nice shots...also got a lot of really bad shots!!!  I went to Best Buy yesterday and purchased a UV filter for this camera...saw a lot of write ups on the web about using one not only to make the photos crisper, but to protect the camera's lense.  So, I might have to get outside and snap a few shots using no filter and then using the filter, just to see what the difference is.

This week should be a wonderful week....temps in the high 60s for most of the week...not usual for March weather around here....but I am so looking forward to it...can't wait to get the flip flops on and let my feet breathe! lol

Today I hope to get some crafty stuff done.  Bought some things to make some new style bracelets and think I will work on jewelry.  I also started scrapping some photos, so I would like to finish those up too.

Here is a bracelet that I made...it is finished, but this picture shows it during the final stages of getting done.  Love the bracelet, but think that I would have preferred it to be thinner...maybe three rows.
Here's a bracelet I just made a few weeks ago...love the colors and it was so simple to make...want to make more of these for sure!
Here's to a crafty day ahead....and a crafty WARM week ahead too!!!

Oh my....I can't believe it's been this long!

Wow...I can't believe that it is almost a year since I last posted on this blog!  I guess other things just got in the way and I totally forgot about this.  I am going to try to keep up, if not daily, then at least a few times a week.

Let's see...since the last post....well, the job I was starting back then has turned out to be just wonderful!  I love it there and am hoping that I will be there for a long, long time.  Not much else has changed with me...yeah, kind of a boring life! ha ha ha

I've worked on my scrapping, made some jewelry and made some more soaps and scrubs....love working on my crafts!  I did go to a rubber stamping show back in July and won a $100 door prize to spend at the show...so I definitely stocked up on some stamps and supplies then.

I've reorganized my scrapping area so that things are all organized by either color or theme....makes it so much easier to have it this way.  Plus, my one dog decided that he liked to chew on some of the stuff that just happened to be within his reach by being stored on the floor....so no more chewed supplies!!!

Hopefully I will be checking in more often.....I don't want to be a bad blogger!

Sunday

What a gorgeous day today!  The sun is shining and it is finally warm!  Temperature should reach 80 degrees today....but it will be up and down with the temps this week....that's Spring!!!

Been doing an on-line crop at a site I frequent.... www.chattyscrappers.net.  If you have time, join in...you have until tomorrow to upload any thing you do for the challenges.  It's a fun place!  I am going to try to work on a few more of the challenges, but the weather just might make me not wanna be inside!

Also want to get some of my other crafts done before I start the new job this week.  Maybe I might just enjoy the day and work on crafts later tonight.

Friday, April 8

Goodness...has been awhile since I've been on here!  But I have good news to share....I found a job!!!  Yipee!!!  Its been a little over a year since I got laid off, so it's been a long time since I've been going to work on a daily basis!  Will start next Wednesday, and I am very happy.

Guess that means that my crafty time will be shortened, but that's ok.  I have lots to do, and I'm sure I will find time in the evenings and weekends to work on it.

Have a few things that I need to make for Easter decorations.  For one, I am making an apothocary jar out of items from the dollar store.  I got the idea from the Dollar Store Crafts blog....amazing what can be put together from items at the dollar store!  Great ideas on this blog, so if you can, go check it out!

Where is Spring?

Woke up to snow flurries this morning!  Where o where is Spring?  It is almost April....we should be having sunny and warm days...ones that get warmer as time goes by....I want to open doors and windows!

I added a header today....it is from The Background Fairy...she also has a site The Graphics Fairy....two awesome sites...check them out!  The graphics site is filled with images...and you know my love affair with vintage!  Well, I could drool all day over her graphics!

Wednesday

Where does time go?  I still can't believe that its been another week since my last post!  I just don't know how these days and weeks are flying by me!  Is it true that the older you get the faster time goes by?  Sure does seem that way!
Here's a pic of some jewelry supplies I picked up a while back.  Still haven't decided what to do with them, but when I was at the store, these were at a great price, so I couldn't pass it up.  The colored pearl strands were 67 cents each!  The other strands were only $1.00 and $2.00 each!

Love, love, love the colored jump rings.  Wish they would have had more choices in colors and sizes.  There were only a few choices left in each color and size, so I bought one pack of the colors/size I figured I would use most....but keep thinking I should go back for more.

Here is a pic of the bath salts I made for the gift basket I put together for a friend's birthday.  I used mineral salts and epsom salts, along with colorant and scent.  The tag I made on the computer and resized to fit the jar....made sure everything was in the purple/lavender color theme!
And here's the soap I made.  The base of the soap was an olive oil mix and then I added the lavender scent and some lavender bits into the mix.  Smells so good!
Here's the basket before wrapping it all up.  There is a bath pillow, foot brush, towel, Spa CD, body massager, tealight, the bath salts, the soap and a bottle of wine in there...of course, everything was again bought in the purple/lavender color scheme.
And here's the basket all wrapped up....with purple ribbons and lavender silk flower stems...of course keeping with the theme!  My friend's birthday was this past weekend, and was so happy to receive this "pamper yourself" basket.  She loved it and her mom was pretty impressed with it too.

The weather is supposed to get pretty crappy here starting later today...maybe that will give me some time to decide what I want to do with the beading goodies that I posted above.  Where o where is Spring?  It was absolutely beautiful for a few days, with the temps warm enough for me to get out my beloved flip flops...honestly, I could live in flip flops...if only we didn't have snow and freezing temps for 6 months out of the year!
